Grooveshark doesn't respond to media keys (prev/next track) on external windows keyboard

While prev/next track buttons work on integrated macbook pro keyboard, they do not work on external PC keyboard. Volume buttons and play/pause buttons do work, only prev/next track support is missing. All keys work as expected in iTunes so it seems there is something missing in shiny groove.

    Hello Igor,

    sorry for the late reply.

I'm sorry but we cannot test the issue you are reporting because we don't have an external PC keyboard. Can you tell me the model name of the keyboard so I can see if I manage to find it.

If Shiny Groove is not responding to the keys it means that they have a different registration compared with the Apple keyboard's ones.

I'm sorry for the inconvenient. Have a perfect day!

    Hi Konstantin,

if I am the only one with this problem, then don't worry about it.
Basically I have standard Windows keyboard (produced by MEDION), it of
course works as expected with all windows software and since it works
with iTunes on Mac I thought there might be some quick fix for Shiny
Groove. But it is just standard keyboard with standard windows key mapping.

    Thanks for your reply!

    Hello again,

in fact no one else reported this problem.

I've wrote down the name of the manufacturer and surely will try it out if I'll find a keyboard like this (or any other not-apple keyboard with media keys).

    Thank you again!

    Hello Alexandr,

I'm sorry to hear that. I've added your keyboard to the list. I'm sorry that I haven't the listed keyboards in the office but until the end of the week I plan to to put my hands on a DELL external multimedia keyboard. I'll let you know the results!

    Thank you for the feedback

    Have an awesome day!

    Hello everyone,

Yesterday I had the opportunity to try a DELL keyboard and made a build of the application that should work with the prev/next media keys.

Can you please try it out and tell me if everything is fine?

    Have an awesome day!

For me it does not work. Still same problem - play/pause works fine, prev/next - doesn't.

    That is sad.

I'm very sorry that I don't have your keyboard to experiment with.

I'll let you know as soon as I get another keyboard to check.

    Have a perfect day!

I'm trying to figure out the problem, especially Dmitry's.

can you tell me if applications like VLC are able to listen to your keyboard media keys ?
