[macOS] importing notes from Yojimbo

Yojimbo, for reference:

http://www.barebones.com/products/Yojimbo/

I have 3.x, the older version. although I can export notes in .txt format and import those notes into Bear, I have two problems with that: 1) I lose the original title of the note and 2) I lose the tags.

an old AppleScript allows you to export from Yojimbo to Evernote and I have thought of doing so and then exporting the notes to Bear. but apart from the hassle that would present, I can't get the AppleScript to work.

any help here?

    Hi,

I think you can solve 1) if Yojimbo use the note title for the file name (and checking the "Use file name as title" option in Bear).

Are tags exported in some way into the note files? Can eventually send me an example?

The Evernote script looks very outdated (2009) but I have found a recent forum discussion which may help

    Cheers.

thanks a lot for responding, truly.

as you said (and I forgot), you can import title along with the notes. this does not include, however, tags. I have something like seven hundred Yojimbo notes.

I started the thread on the Evernote forum. I pasted in the code and deleted the section of it that they suggested, but Script Editor still would not continue without my having the Growl Helper. the App Store does have Growl for sale but one of the reviews called it corrupt. I may DL it as a last resort, though.

could you suggest someplace where I could pay a coder to write AppleScript to translate the Yojimbo notes into Bear notes, complete with tags? I looked on Fiverr but I could not find any coders who knew AppleScript. I may try that, though, again, as a last resort but I wondered if you could suggest other places.

    again, thank you fo responding.

Ria - you should post about this in the Bear Reddit forum . Quite a few forum participants appear to have a lot of programming knowledge and should be able to give you some assistance.

thank you for the suggestion. a week or longer ago posted on the topic in the Bear subreddit. not the offer to pay to have it done, though.

thank you for getting back to me. Yojimbo 3, which I have (I have not updated to Yojimbo 4), can export notes in RTF format. I should probably go on the Yojimbo messageboard and asked if Yojimbo 4 can export in other formats.

RTF may be a good format to keep the text styles (bold, italic, ...) but I'm afraid the tags will be lost anyway.

do you know of any means of preserving Yojimbo's native tags?

No, unfortunately I don't know much about Yojimbo.
