Sync not working...

We have installed Bear on 3 devices from very 1.0

We have 3 different sync states.

On an iPad Pro it says its syncing but it is not.

On a 2014 iMac it says its syncing but it is not.

On a 2014 MacBook Pro it has never synced and nothing we have done has enabled it to sync.

We have deleted and reinstalled many times on each device but this has made little to no effect.

Exception being that initially the iMac would not / could not sync but now says it is syncing.

Each device has different content and no device has content that has been synced from another device.

This is most perplexing and rendered the software unusable.

We will need this issue to be resolved before we can commit to a paid subscription.

Is there a way to force a sync request...?

Regards Sven

Yesterday’s update helped a bit. Just a bit. When I want to sync my work, I quit app on iMac (if I just write on iMac), open it again and my work magically lands in MacBook, iPhpne and iPad. I can’t belive it was an idea of sycncing.

For me only iMac is correctly syncing, MacBook e iPad say "Last sync: never" (same iCloud). But where is the sync folder? Inside iCloud Drive? but I've not found. Yes, I've done the upgrade

I have a MacBook, an iPad and an iPhone. The MacBook syncs, the others do not. I've tried every version, deleted and reinstalled etc, and still nothing. Same iCloud account of course. Version 1.0.3 makes no difference.

This is becoming profoundly frustrating. I have had lots of goodwill towards Bear (I bought Pro after 10 minutes) but in practice it is not usable.

Can you please enable the file log in Bear ( Preferences -> General -> Enable file log ) edit one note ( add one word ), wait a few seconds and send the log ( Preferences -> General -> Share File Log ).

    Thanks.

Thank you, Danilo. I made a simple change on my Macbook and likewise on the iPhone (creating the first note).

Where do you want these logs shared? Presumably not here (looking at the iOS log I see lots of private data). I don't see an email address for Shiny Frog.

As Matteo at Shiny Frog advised, I left my copy of Bear open on the iPhone to wait for the sync. An hour later – it synced! So that's great news. Thank you.

My own advice would be some kind of progress indicator to let the user know that their notebook is syncing – if they have several thousand notes like me, then it will take a very long time.

Still not getting sync to work.

I have applied every up date including 1.0.4 and I have a MacBook that is still saying “Never Synced”

I have an iMac saying it is syncing but none of its data is appearing on any other device.

I have iPads and iPhones all telling me they are syncing but I can not see any common data.

    How can this be resolved?

    Best Regards

    Sven

Almost a month and the sync issue still persists. The developers are really irresponsible for this so-called premium feature. Hello, we paid for sync feature but it did nothing. Don't you feel shame? Keeping telling nonsense of 1) update to latest version 2) enable iCloud 3) send log. How hard is it to make sync work? If you guys are not ready yet, fine, but don't ask for subscription.

Sync really sucks. But if you quit Bear on your MacBook and open it again, sync will start.

sync is also effectively not working for me too. Occasionally the Mac app does sync, but if so, only for a few minutes it seems. Restarting the app doesn't always help.

I have a private discussion on this subject but haven't heard back for a few days.

Looking around this support forum and the Reddit, it seems that there is a real problem - at least for some people.

I'd love to use Bear but this really is a show stopper.

Is it possible to have an update from someone at Shiny Frogs about this? - whether it's accepted as a real issue, whether it's being looked at, etc...

If I know that it will be fixed I'll hang in. Otherwise, when my free month ends in a few days I will be most unlikely to pay without having first been given any indication that a problem has been resovled.

Please! - an update would be great.

I'm having the same problem. I am Bear Pro. iCloud Drive is enabled on MacOS and all my iOS devices. Nothing syncs and I've lost data. I backed up (in Evernote) but lost data stored in Bear.

Bear support was condescending and dismissive. This is clearly a bug on Bear's end and their inability to address the problem like an adult company is disappointing.

    Hi,

Since Thursday 30 March Apple had a problem with both MacOS and iOS App Stores the issue involved certain in-app purchase and does not allow to purchase or renew subscriptions. The problem seems solved now.

Please check if your Bear Pro registration is active on this iTunes page:
    https://buy.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/manageSubs...

    Cheers.

I agree with all of you. Bear does not sync. Period. What's more, on the mac I cannot change any of the settings in the general tab. I can change them on the iPad.
In my view at present Bear is totally unusable and the shinyfrog is being professionally inept in refusing to agree that they have a problem.
At this point, even OneNote looks better!

    Hi,

Bear isn't syncing. I tried all of the recommended steps (ensuring iCloud drive is enabled on Mac, also the same on iOS, and confirming that Bear is checked in settings).

I really want to use this app, but this renders the app unusable. When will this be fixed, and will you provide a way to "force sync?"

    Hi,

please try this, do a backup of your notes on Mac and delete Bear with AppZapper or AppCleaner. Also, remove bear for any other device. Re-install Bear on Mac and open it. Bear may start to sync by itself if it does not restore your backup.

Here a guide about backup notes in Bear:

    Cheers.

Same problem, Bear will not sync, or syncs differently on different devices. I have about 4000 notes imported from Evernote (about half of my notes), I waited until all of them were synced and it did fine, but now it won't sync. And despite having 4000 notes, my iPhone still says "never synced" in the prefs panel. Changes made to notes don't sync. Good thing I only paid for one month. I've tried everything suggested, but I think I'm done with it. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. Still looking for a good Evernote replacement.
